New Yorker couture fashion designer Vera Wang opened first Asian flagship - in Seoul, South Korea.
The four storey flagship store, occupying 5759 sqft of retail space, is located in Cheongdam-dong, southern Seoul. Cheongdam-dong is referred as 'fashion and art street' which has around 50 upscale international and local brand including Louis Vuitton and Gucci.
It offers ready-to-wear collections, signature bridal gowns, accessories, fragrances, footwear and home products.

The shiny white of bridal gowns is accentuated by the display space itself: the charcoal walls, the sleek grey floor and the black steel accents.
With its flagship in Seoul, designer Vera Wang has transported its forte - bridal gowns - to the Asian market. The local store may be seen as a step-stone to expansion into other markets in the region.
“The Vera Wang Group sees Korea as a large emerging market and has acknowledged there are many high-end consumers here,” said Jung Mi-ri, president of Vera Wang, Korea.

The flagship marks a second entry into the South Korean capital for Vera Wang. The company shut down shops operating at Lotte Avenue in 2007 and at Shilla Hotel in 2010.
Lyle Maltz, licensing director for Vera Wang, said they're looking to develop presence in other Asian markets, making Seoul a key gateway.
Korea's growing demand for bridal gowns also enticed other international brand to tap the market. Spanish bridal gown label Pronovias opened its flagship store in December in Sinsa-dong and American label Amsale launched two shops in southern and central Seoul in 2009 and 2011.
