A 21 year old entrepreneur in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs has launched an instant employment service for people to fill a wide variety of positions that open up across Australia at short notice.

Called OneShift, the service advertises jobs that arise at the last minutes in a range of industries and companies, largely centred on hospitality operators like pubs, cafes and events organisers.

Owner Genevieve George said she came up with the idea for OneShift when travelling in Europe.

"We regularly needed work on short notice to cover our costs. OneShift provides a great service to operators looking to solve last minute staffing issues, as well as people seeking work at short notice or for time periods as short as one shift.

"We have already seen strong demand from a range of operators in the hospitality sector who have been short of staff when they have had sick days or in periods of high demand - providing immediate solutions to their staffing problems", she said.

The service is free for a limited time and we will be looking at charges between $15 and $50 for advertising by small businesses and corporate members in the future, which already include Sydney groups - The Eastern Night Club, The Beauty Book, Life PT and Easy Eating.

I'm not sure if it's not big in Melbourne yet, though I only found 2 jobs available in the last 2 weeks- neither suitable for me.
