Apple opens newest Sydney store

Apple's newest Australian store in the Sydney CBD fringe Broadway Shopping Centre opened Saturday to the usual crowds.

Broadway shopping centre management report that foot traffic was above expectation at the store, which opened on the last day of the financial year. Around 700 people visited the store on the opening day.

"The new Apple store was filled with excitement, and experienced better -than-expected in-store engagement over the first two days of trade," Broadway said in a statement.

Hours prior to the official opening, hundreds of eager customers queued to enter the store and it took about 40 minutes before all those waiting could get inside.

Broadway Shopping Centre manager, Corrado Ferraccioli said the inclusion of Apple to the centre’s current offer was directly inline with Broadway’s customer profile.

“Today’s Apple store launch significantly increases Broadway’s offering to its vast customer base. We are excited to have Apple as part of the Broadway Shopping Centre and are confident Apple will experience growth and success in our centre,” Ferraccioli said.

“Broadway’s customers are increasingly tech-savvy and want the latest and greatest available on the market. Apple is world-renowned for providing such products with an extremely high level of service, one-on-one in-store education, and delivering exactly what our customers need and want,” he said.

The close proximity of the University of Technology Sydney and Sydney University to the Broadway Shopping Centre makes the new Apple even more relevant to the local customer base.

A Broadway spokesperson said they did not have trading information for the store's first days as yet.

Can someone explain to me why there is yet to be an Apple store located in the Melbourne CBD? It seems like a no brainer.
