LG Household to buy Elizabeth Arden

Korean cosmetics and personal care products seller LG Household plans to buy cosmetics company Elizabeth Arden.

The deal is said to be worth $963 million, the LG arm’s most expensive single acquisition. It spent $34 million on three local purchases last year and $485 million in 2012.

“We are considering acquiring two or three big cosmetics firms, including Elizabeth Arden,” said the company’s spokeswoman.

LG Household bought The Face Shop in 2010 and Japan’s Everlife in 2012. It is also the joint venture partner in Coty Asia.

The Seoul-based company reported a net profit growth of 365.7 billion won ($351.8 million) in 2013 from 158 billion won in 2012.
