India’s Fabindia expands

Indian ethnic lifestyle retailer Fabindia plans to expand its domestic and international presence.

In India, 50 new stores will be added this year to its existing 175.

“The new stores would be a mix of company-owned and franchise model,” Fabindia CEO Surat Datta said.

The company also plans to expand more in its existing overseas markets such as Singapore, Dubai and Rome. It will also open stores in Hong Kong.

It recently launched a new brand called Fabel which offers contemporary Western clothing. The new brand is expected to contribute 10 per cent of its sales in the coming years.
