Ralph Lauren in Indian deal

American fashion designer Ralph Lauren is reportedly in talks with Indian company Madura Fashion and Lifestyle to develop its brand in the country.

The two companies are said to be in discussions to forge a joint venture.

Should the plan proceed, Ralph Lauren will add to Madura’s growing portfolio of foreign brands including Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Peter England and Allen Solly.

Ralph Lauren designs, markets and sells high-end men’s, women’s and children’s apparel, accessories, fragrances and home furnishings to customers worldwide.

The company has been in talks previously with Indian companies such as Trent and Arvind Mills, but deals did not materialise.
