7-Eleven hits Vietnam

Convenience chain 7-Eleven is reportedly set to open its first location in Vietnam within the next two months.

Its master franchisee, Thai CP All, will open seven company-owned stores in Vietnam in the first two to three years before allowing a local partner to administer the chain.

The stores will stock 40 per cent Vietnamese products and 60 per cent Thai and other imported products, sources add.

Vietnam’s convenience chain market is foreseen to be very competitive in the coming years with players expanding their presence.

FamilyMart plans to open 300 stores over the next five years while Ministop eyes to have 500 stores by 2017.

Shop & Go, which opened its 100th store, will open 30 new stores in 2014.
