Alice + Olivia hits Japan

US contemporary women’s clothing brand Alice + Olivia has opened its first freestanding store in Japan.

The store is located near Tokyo’s Harajuku district and Omotesando and spans 1615 sqft across two floors.

It is decorated in designer and founder Stacey Bendet’s signature whimsical style, featuring black and white checkered floors, leopard print rugs, retro furnishings, and wallpaper of women’s stockinged legs in a diamond pattern.

“It’s like a dream come true to be opening a store here, and hopefully we’ll open more stores,” said Bendet.

“Women here, they’re not afraid of a little whimsy, they’re not afraid to express themselves, but they’re also very sort of chic and refined, and I think that combination as a designer is kind of what you aspire to make and what you want to be.”

Alice + Olivia sells products at its 14 freestanding boutiques in New York, California, Connecticut, Hong Kong and now in Japan, at online shop aliceandolivia.com, and at over 800 select department and specialty stores worldwide.
